Senior Staff Engineer - Hardware Board Design

About the role

Marvell is hiring a Senior Staff Engineer for its SIE team, which tailors board and package design solutions for switch products according to device SI/PI, performance and cost targets. The engineer leads the board design process from definition through tape-out to post-manufacturing bring-up.

Key responsibilities

• Work with hardware, system and electrical testing engineers to define the product and design systems for evaluation and test.
• Drive board design phases: architecture and design, component selection, schematic entry, board layout, board bring-up.
• Guide designs with ODM partners and work with internal board development, DVT and SI teams to meet design targets.
• Lead the post-silicon board bring-up and provide system inputs to the device design team.
• Own the board design process from definition to tape-out and post-manufacturing bring-up.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 10+ years of related experience.
• 10+ years as an electrical engineer designing high-speed digital or analog circuitry on complex, high-density PCB assemblies, including Ethernet switches, microcontrollers and processors.
• 5+ years working with ODMs and 5+ years designing high-density boards with fine-pitch components.
• Proven track record leading small teams of design engineers.
• Understanding of mechanical and thermal components used in board design.

Required skills

• High-speed interfaces: DDR4, PCIe Gen3/4, 10G/25G/50G/100G Ethernet.
• Power supply design and signal/power integrity, with hands-on lab measurement experience.
• Familiarity with Cadence Allegro schematics and layout tools.
• Analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
