Lead Backend Software Engineer

About the role

Salesforce is looking for a Lead Backend Software Engineer to drive AI‑first development of high‑quality, production‑grade services on its cloud platform. You will work in a hybrid model with a world‑class engineering team to design, build, and scale backend systems that power millions of users.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable, secure micro‑service architectures for AI agents integrated into human workflows.
• Write production‑ready code in Java, Python, Scala, Go, C#, Node.js or C++ and ensure high performance and reliability.
• Evaluate both human‑written and AI‑generated code for correctness, security and performance.
• Maintain shared system context documentation to enable accurate AI operation.
• Mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews and provide technical guidance.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Deep knowledge of object‑oriented programming and scripting languages.
• Proven experience building distributed, multi‑tenant SaaS systems on public cloud (AWS, Azure or GCP).
• Demonstrated AI‑first mindset, using tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Codex or similar.
