Applied Scientist – Personalization & Recommendation Systems

About the role

We are looking for an Applied Scientist to advance machine‑learning and recommendation technologies that power personalized shopping experiences for millions of Amazon customers. You will work with large‑scale data sets and powerful compute resources to create innovative AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research, design and develop novel AI models for personalization and large‑language‑model applications.
• Invent or adapt machine‑learning and analytical techniques for recommendation systems.
• Collaborate with scientists, software engineers and product partners across locations to prototype, experiment and launch new features.
• Publish findings and contribute to Amazon’s scientific community.

Required profile

• PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related field, or MSc with 5+ years of applied research experience.
• Strong foundations in data structures, algorithms and software engineering.
• Proven track record of publications at top‑tier conferences or journals.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
