About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Software Backend Engineer to design and develop backend software for next‑generation scan‑domain systems. This hands‑on role focuses on Java development, system‑level design, and building high‑performance services that interact with complex hardware workflows.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop Java backend components for scan‑domain system flows.
• Implement and maintain core logic that orchestrates scanning, sequencing, and execution.
• Collaborate with algorithm, hardware, and system teams to integrate end‑to‑end workflows.
• Develop scalable, reliable, and maintainable components within a domain‑driven architecture.
• Participate in system design, architecture discussions, and technical decision‑making.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize complex backend and system‑level issues.

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands‑on Java backend development experience.
• Proven experience designing and implementing complex backend or system‑level software.
• Experience working in Linux‑based environments and domain‑driven architectures.
• Strong understanding of software design principles, concurrency, and performance considerations.
• Ability to work across domains and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
