Senior C++ Low Level Engineer

About the role

Join Akamai’s API Security team to shape the future of API protection. You will work on a groundbreaking eBPF Agent that provides deep observability and security inside the Linux kernel.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, and optimise the eBPF Agent for high‑performance security monitoring.
• Conduct research on Linux kernel internals, eBPF, XDP and related technologies.
• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable C++ code focused on low‑level and systems programming.
• Collaborate with data scientists, system architects, and product managers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.
• Use profiling and debugging tools to analyse and improve agent performance.
• Document code and research findings to support team knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of professional C++ development experience.
• Strong expertise in systems programming, memory management and concurrency.
• Hands‑on experience with eBPF, XDP or related Linux kernel technologies.
• Deep knowledge of modern C++ (C++11/14/17/20) and the STL.
• Proven research background in experimentation, algorithms or emerging technologies.
• In‑depth understanding of Linux OS internals, network protocols and security features.
• Ability to dive into kernel development and stay current with eBPF ecosystem advances.
• Creative problem‑solving skills for complex, abstract challenges.
