Director of Engineering

About the role

We are looking for a visionary engineering leader to architect and lead our quality engineering discipline into the AI era. The role owns automation infrastructure, performance engineering, and AI‑driven quality initiatives, building and mentoring high‑performing teams of engineers and architects.

Key responsibilities

• Define and lead AI‑augmented quality initiatives, including LLM‑powered test generation and root‑cause analysis tooling.
• Own the full automation strategy across UI, API, and integration layers and drive shift‑left testing in CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead performance and load testing strategy at enterprise scale, define SLOs/SLAs, and partner with SRE on reliability thresholds.
• Build and scale test frameworks for validating AI/ML model outputs and non‑deterministic behaviors.
• Hire, develop, and mentor senior engineers, architects, and performance specialists, setting technical direction and career ladders.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with Product, DevOps, and R&D leadership to embed AI‑quality thinking throughout the SDLC.

Required profile

• 12+ years in software engineering or QA with 5+ years in engineering leadership at Director or senior staff level.
• Deep hands‑on experience building test automation frameworks from scratch and leading performance engineering for large‑scale systems.
• Proven track record shipping or operating AI/ML systems and addressing their unique quality challenges.
• Experience managing multi‑team organizations (10–40+ headcount) in enterprise SaaS, fintech, or similarly regulated environments.

Required skills

• Programming languages: Python, TypeScript, Java.
• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitHub Actions.
• Performance testing tools: k6, JMeter, Gatling.
• Observability/APM platforms: Datadog, Grafana, Dynatrace, New Relic.
• AI/ML testing knowledge: prompt engineering, RAG, agentic workflows, model drift detection.
• Experience with AI coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, or Cursor.
