Rust Engineer – Data Infrastructure

About the role

MWDN, an IT outstaffing company, is recruiting a Data Infrastructure Engineer for a 2-10 employee Israeli startup building an AI-powered platform for autonomous data lakehouse management and optimization. The product uses Apache Iceberg to automate data maintenance, improve query performance and reduce infrastructure costs. The engineer will build and maintain high-performance data lakehouse infrastructure, including Apache Iceberg maintenance workflows and a Rust-based, multi-engine SQL query router.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship services that turn table health signals into safe, correct maintenance operations, making every commit verifiably correct even under concurrent writers, retries and partial failures.
• Work on a production-grade compaction engine and its surrounding systems.
• Maintain QueryFlux: triage issues, review pull requests, build new engine connectors and cut releases.
• Run the built systems in production, including on-call and debugging in customers' real environments.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience.
• Strong Rust development experience.
• Production experience with data infrastructure and maintaining production systems.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, including code reviews and open-source contributions.
