Data Infrastructure Engineer (Java & Rust)

About the role

MWDN is seeking a Data Infrastructure Engineer to design, build, and maintain high‑performance data lakehouse infrastructure for an AI‑powered startup. You will work on Apache Iceberg maintenance workflows and a Rust‑based multi‑engine SQL query router, contributing to both production systems and open‑source components.

Key responsibilities

• Design and ship services that translate table health signals into safe, correct maintenance operations such as compaction, snapshot expiry, and orphan file cleanup.
• Maintain and evolve the Rust‑based QueryFlux engine: triage issues, review pull requests, add new connectors, and manage releases.
• Run your code in production, including on‑call support, debugging, and performance tuning in customer environments.

Required profile

• 5+ years of software development experience, primarily in Java.
• Strong Rust development background with production‑grade code.
• Hands‑on experience building and operating data infrastructure systems.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and collaborate effectively.
