PhD Graduate Student – Cancer Research

About the role

The Shaked lab at the Faculty of Medicine, Technion, invites applications for a PhD graduate study position focused on the tumor microenvironment and novel cancer treatment modalities, including immunotherapy. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team dedicated to advancing fundamental knowledge and translating discoveries into therapeutic strategies. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in cutting‑edge cancer research within an academic setting.

Key responsibilities

• Design, execute, and optimize experiments investigating interactions between tumor cells and their microenvironment.
• Develop and test innovative therapeutic approaches, with a particular emphasis on immunotherapy.
• Collect, process, and analyze experimental data using appropriate statistical methods.
• Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to contextualize findings and identify emerging trends.
• Collaborate closely with lab members, share results, and contribute to joint projects.
• Prepare scientific reports, draft manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals, and present findings at conferences and seminars.
• Participate in grant writing and project planning activities as needed.

Required profile

• Strong interest in cancer biology, tumor microenvironment, and translational research.
• Academic background in life sciences, biomedical engineering, or a related discipline, preferably at the MSc level.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and contribute to a collaborative research environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills for scientific reporting.
