Lead Skills Trainer – Substance Abuse Treatment

About the role

The Lead Skills Trainer provides leadership at a substance‑abuse treatment facility, working closely with the Program Director to ensure a high‑quality, person‑centered program that meets contractual obligations. This role oversees all Skills Trainers, provides shift coverage, and supports clients throughout their recovery journey.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor Skills Trainers, assisting with hiring and scheduling.
• Deliver initial competency‑based training to new staff and coordinate annual required trainings.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and provide coverage for each shift.
• Support clients during all phases of recovery and ensure their mental and physical care needs are met.
• Review and ensure timely completion of staff paperwork, including medication logs, incident reports, and progress notes.
• Conduct facility visual checks for health, safety, and client behavior compliance.
• Execute and document emergency drills in line with established protocols.
• Perform drug and alcohol testing and ensure compliant searches.
• Maintain strict client confidentiality according to HIPAA and 42 CFR regulations.

Required profile

• Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise a team in a healthcare setting.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational abilities and capacity to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
