AI Algorithm Developer - Point of Care Ultrasound
gehc · Haifa
Job description
About the role
GE HealthCare's Point of Care Ultrasound Algorithm team is looking for an experienced AI Algorithm Developer to take ownership of challenging imaging and guidance problems. You will develop algorithms that connect physical imaging processes, clinical needs and product behaviour, combining hands-on algorithm development with independent technical judgment and close collaboration across disciplines.
Key responsibilities
- Own algorithm workstreams from problem definition and technical approach through implementation, evaluation and integration.
- Translate clinical and product needs into clear requirements, measurable success criteria and development plans.
- Develop solutions combining deep learning, computer vision, image processing and mathematical modelling, suited to each problem.
- Understand how imaging physics, acquisition geometry, artifacts and system constraints affect data and algorithm behaviour.
- Define data and annotation requirements, design reproducible experiments, investigate failure cases and use findings to guide improvements.
- Work with software, imaging, clinical and product teams to balance accuracy, robustness, latency and computational requirements.
- Use generative AI tools to speed up research, coding, testing and analysis, while verifying outputs and keeping responsibility for technical decisions.
- Deliver maintainable code and clear technical documentation supporting integration, verification and regulatory activities.
Required profile
- M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Mathematics or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least four years of hands-on experience developing computer vision or image-processing algorithms, including substantial deep learning experience.
- Demonstrated ownership of a technical problem, from defining the approach to delivering results.
- Ability to design experiments, evaluate performance and distinguish limitations from data, models, implementation or the imaging system.
- Clear communication and ability to work independently while collaborating when expertise is needed.
Required skills
- Strong Python programming and practical experience with PyTorch or an equivalent deep learning framework.
- Strong mathematical foundations and ability to reason about physical systems and measurement processes.
- Advantages: ultrasound, medical imaging, computational imaging or signal processing; temporal modeling, tracking, 3D computer vision or computational geometry; C++, inference optimization or deployment on resource-limited systems; moving algorithms from feasibility studies to integrated products.
