Mechanical Design Engineer – Dexterous Robotic Hands

About the role

We are looking for a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dexterous hands development team. This highly hands‑on position will take mechanisms from early concepts through detailed design, prototyping, testing, iteration, and preparation for production.

Key responsibilities

• Design compact, high‑performance mechanisms for robotic hands, fingers, and wrists.
• Develop joints, transmissions, actuation systems, tendon or cable‑driven mechanisms, and sensor‑integrated components.
• Perform kinematic, force, tolerance, and structural analyses.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, production drawings, and bills of materials.
• Build and assemble prototypes and conduct hands‑on mechanical testing.
• Design test fixtures and define validation procedures.
• Investigate failures, identify root causes, and implement rapid design improvements.
• Collaborate with controls, electronics, software, industrial design, and manufacturing engineers.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
• Professional experience in mechanical design and product development.
• Strong 3D CAD (SolidWorks) skills and ability to produce manufacturing‑ready drawings.
• Solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, tolerances, fits, materials, mechanisms, and load paths.
• Practical experience assembling, testing, troubleshooting, and improving physical prototypes.
• Ability to work independently, make sound engineering decisions, and move quickly from concept to hardware.
