Principal Software Engineer

About the role

We’re seeking an exceptional Principal Engineer to shape the technical direction and long‑term architecture of Aidoc’s Imaging Platform. In this role you’ll lead complex, cross‑organization initiatives and drive architectural strategy across multiple systems and teams, while staying close to the code and ensuring decisions are grounded in real‑world implementation. You’ll work directly with engineering and product leadership to define how the platform evolves, ensuring scalability, reliability and performance as the company grows.

Key responsibilities

• Lead company‑wide or cross‑team technical initiatives, ensuring architectural alignment across multiple product areas.
• Define and drive long‑term technical strategy for the Imaging Platform in collaboration with engineering leadership.
• Provide architectural guidance, conduct design reviews, and mentor senior and staff engineers.
• Formalize engineering best practices around performance, reliability and observability.
• Contribute hands‑on to architectural spikes and first‑of‑a‑kind implementations where deep expertise is required.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve scalability, developer productivity and system robustness.

Required profile

• 15+ years of professional experience building large‑scale, distributed software systems.
• Proven track record in technical leadership roles delivering complex cross‑functional projects.
• Deep understanding of architecture, scalability, data consistency and fault tolerance.
• Strong technical leadership skills, able to align directors and executives toward a shared vision.
• First‑principles thinking to guide teams through design trade‑offs and lasting technical decisions.
