Experienced Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Experienced Mechanical Engineer to join its Hardware R&D group in Rehovot. You will contribute to the design and development of complex optical and electron microscopy machines used for semiconductor wafer inspection.

Key responsibilities

• Design structural elements, optomechanical systems, high‑precision mechanisms, pneumatics, vacuum, filtration and cooling systems for clean‑room environments.
• Perform experiments, CAE simulations and analysis to validate designs and troubleshoot issues.
• Produce detailed drawings, define fabrication processes, material selections and GD&T specifications, and conduct complex tolerance analyses.
• Lead mechanical aspects of projects, present design reviews and collaborate with optics, physics, control, electronics, software, manufacturing, field support and suppliers.

Required profile

• BSc/MSc in Mechanical Engineering with at least 5 years of mechanical design experience.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Comfortable working in fast‑paced, multidisciplinary teams and adapting to new challenges.
• Self‑motivated, eager to learn and explore new topics.
