Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technician – Data Center

About the role

Amazon is seeking an energetic, detail‑oriented Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technician to join its Data Center Engineering Operations team. You will help maintain the critical physical infrastructure that powers Amazon Web Services, ensuring 100% availability of mechanical, electrical, and fire/life‑safety systems.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a wide range of mechanical and electrical equipment, including generators, switchgear, UPS, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, motors and VFDs.
• Perform root‑cause analysis of equipment failures and troubleshoot facility‑ and rack‑level events within internal SLA targets.
• Take daily operational readings and record data in the internal CMMS.
• Adhere to all safety procedures while performing work and support rotating shift schedules.
• Collaborate with internal teams to drive innovation and reduce operational costs.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of hands‑on electrical or mechanical experience.
• Ability to work rotating shifts and follow strict safety protocols.
• Preferred: experience managing critical facilities, knowledge of HVAC, chillers, fan controls, and a journeyman license in electrical or mechanical trades.
