Software System Reliability Engineer

About the role

Cisco is looking for a Software System Reliability Engineer to join its System Reliability Team, which works on Cisco Silicon One products. The team covers release process planning and monitoring, detailed testing and automation of releases, and ensures the stability of the development branch. The engineer bridges the gap between customers and developers so that issues are resolved quickly.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in release preparation and ensure successful deployments.
• Facilitate communication across teams so everyone is aligned on release objectives and deliverables.
• Run daily regression tests and monitor system performance to keep quality standards high.
• When failures occur, coordinate with the right development or infrastructure teams to assign and resolve them.
• Work with customer-owners and developers to streamline processes and expand regression testing and release procedures.
• Contribute to CI/CD initiatives to automate and improve the development pipeline.
• Analyze and report on issues found in released software to drive continuous improvement.
• Build automation to monitor and triage failures found during daily regressions, and act as the main point of contact for problems in development sanity runs.
• Use deep knowledge of the CI/CD system and related products to troubleshoot issues and design new approaches as the system grows.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years of engineering experience, or a Master's degree.
• 3+ years of experience with CI/CD practices and tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI.
• 3+ years of coding in C++ or Python.
• 3+ years of experience with regression testing tools or frameworks such as Selenium or pytest.
• 3+ years of experience performing both manual and automated software testing.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with QA processes, testing methodologies and test automation.
• Familiarity with performance, functional, stress and security testing scenarios.
• Experience documenting test processes, following test plans and reporting results.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time in a fast-paced environment, and strong communication skills with global teams.
