Software Engineer III – Mobile Android (Waze)

About the role

Google’s Waze team is looking for a Software Engineer III to help build and improve the mobile Android experience for millions of users worldwide. You will work on core navigation features, collaborate across product and design, and contribute to a platform that blends real‑time road data with community contributions.

Key responsibilities

• Write high‑quality product or system development code for Android applications.
• Participate in, or lead, design reviews with peers and stakeholders to evaluate technology choices.
• Review code authored by other engineers, providing feedback on style, testability, efficiency, and best practices.
• Contribute to documentation and educational content, updating it based on product changes and user feedback.
• Triage product or system issues, debug, track, and resolve problems affecting hardware, network, or service quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience (or 1 year with an advanced degree).
• Minimum 2 years of Android application development experience.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science or related field.
• Preferred: 2 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Preferred: Experience developing accessible technologies.
