Software Engineer II, Search Platforms

About the role

Google’s Search Platforms team is looking for a Software Engineer II to help build and optimise AI‑Mode and AI‑Overview tooling that accelerates developers working on Search. You will join a fast‑moving environment where your work impacts billions of users worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a deep technical understanding of the AI‑Mode and AI‑Overview stacks to create highly optimised developer acceleration tools.
• Contribute to high‑impact projects that expand and enhance the Search developer toolset, delivering large velocity gains.
• Partner with engineering teams across AI‑Mode and AI‑Overview to ensure tools are relevant, seamlessly integrated, and aligned with evolving needs.
• Collaborate with other Search Platform teams to deliver end‑to‑end experiences for Search developers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 1 year of software development experience in one or more programming languages.
• At least 1 year of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Preferred experience with agentic development.
