Senior System Engineer

About the role

KLA's Semiconductor Products and Customers (Semi PC) business unit designs, builds and sells inspection, metrology and analytics systems that help chip manufacturers meet high-quality standards for AI, data centers, automotive and electronic devices. As Senior System Engineer, you will be the technical owner of a product or major development program, bridging Product Line Management, Applications and R&D to turn requirements into an executable engineering plan and deliver a working system.

Key responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end system definition, translating business and customer requirements into detailed system and subsystem requirements, and lead system architecture and trade-off decisions.
• Lead the engineering development plan and multi-disciplinary execution across System, HW, SW, Algorithms, Process, Applications and Manufacturing, managing integration, qualification and readiness for alpha, beta and customer releases.
• Plan and lead system integration, verify compliance with requirements, define calibration flows and verification approaches, and support validation, qualification and customer acceptance.
• Lead root-cause analysis of complex technical and performance issues and manage system-level issue escalation.
• Identify technical risks early, run design and risk reviews, facilitate cross-discipline decisions and drive continuous improvement of engineering processes.
• Act as the main engineering interface to PLC, Applications and Field support, collaborate with Product Management on priorities, and communicate status, risks and decisions to leadership and stakeholders.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience in multidisciplinary R&D environments.
• Proven experience leading complex system development programs.
• Strong understanding of system engineering, architecture, integration and qualification methodologies.
• Experience working with Hardware, Software, Algorithms, Applications and Manufacturing teams.
• Excellent analytical, communication and leadership skills, able to drive execution and influence without direct authority.
