Senior Controller

About the role

Utila is seeking a hands‑on Senior Financial Controller to lead the finance function for its fast‑growing fintech platform. Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will own the full accounting cycle, drive financial reporting, and build scalable processes as the company expands globally.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the monthly, quarterly and annual close process and ensure accurate financial statements.
• Oversee accounting operations for the US parent entity and international subsidiaries, including bookkeeping, balance‑sheet reconciliations, intercompany accounting and cash management.
• Direct accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing and collections, and maintain working‑capital reporting.
• Develop and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and revenue‑recognition for SaaS contracts.
• Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, tax advisors and payroll providers.
• Support statutory reporting, tax filings and compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Partner with department leaders on budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and cost control.
• Lead audits, due‑diligence activities and strategic finance projects while enhancing finance systems and automation.

Required profile

• CPA qualification with experience at a Big 4 accounting firm.
• 5+ years of in‑house finance experience, including controller‑level responsibility.
• Proven track record in high‑growth technology or SaaS companies.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition, intercompany accounting and statutory compliance.
• Experience managing external audit, tax and payroll service providers.
