Maintenance Technician – Food Production

About the role

We are seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our production equipment running safely and efficiently. You will work closely with Operations Management to schedule maintenance that minimizes downtime and supports our high‑quality bacon processing operations.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on automated machinery.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with Operations Management to reduce production interruptions.
• Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and diagnose issues using prints, manuals, and testing devices.
• Dismantle, rebuild, and replace defective parts using hand and power tools.
• Maintain accurate work orders, daily reports, and follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
• Support safety, food quality, and sanitation initiatives.
• Communicate maintenance needs and status to Plant Management and other departments.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; vocational training or associate degree with an electromechanical focus preferred.
• At least 2 years of experience with automated equipment, preferably in a food‑manufacturing environment.
• Strong self‑motivation and ability to work independently.
• No specific certifications required.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting and corrective maintenance of mechanical equipment.
• Preventive maintenance procedures (inspecting drives, motors, belts, fluid levels, filters).
• Reading and interpreting mechanical prints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
• Use of hand tools, power tools, saws, drills, wrenches, precision measuring instruments, and electronic testing devices.
• Knowledge of relay logic, control field devices, contactors, starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, photo eyes, VFDs, HMIs, and interlock safety devices.
• Adherence to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) safety protocols.
