Head of Legal

About the role

Venice is building an agentless platform that secures privileged access across cloud, SaaS and on‑prem environments. As the first legal hire, you will create and own the legal function, shaping governance, contracts and compliance for a fast‑growing AI‑driven security company.

Key responsibilities

• Build and lead Venice’s legal function from scratch, establishing policies, playbooks and scalable processes.
• Take enterprise deals end‑to‑end, drafting and negotiating SaaS agreements, MSAs, DPAs, security addendums and partnership contracts with Fortune 500 customers.
• Design and oversee privacy, security and AI compliance programs covering GDPR, CCPA, Israeli law and emerging regulations such as the EU AI Act.
• Define legal and contractual governance for autonomous AI agents, addressing liability, data handling and access rights.
• Provide legal strategy for IP, employment, corporate governance, fundraising, strategic partnerships and M&A activities.
• Collaborate directly with founders and cross‑functional teams (Sales, Finance, Security, HR, R&D) as a business‑first advisor.

Required profile

• 5+ years as a Commercial/Tech lawyer in a fast‑paced environment, preferably with both law‑firm and in‑house SaaS experience.
• LL.B, J.D. or equivalent, licensed to practice law in Israel.
• Proven track record drafting and negotiating complex B2B SaaS, data‑processing and service agreements.
• Strong understanding of privacy and data‑protection laws (GDPR, CCPA, Israeli law) and familiarity with SOC 2 and ISO 27001 frameworks.
• Ability to grasp AI‑related legal implications quickly and provide clear, pragmatic advice.
• Business‑oriented mindset, self‑starter attitude and excellent English communication skills.
