Engineering Pilot

About the role

We are looking for a hands‑on Engineering Pilot to lead flight testing of new UAV platforms from first flight through operational readiness. You will be the first to fly every system we build, providing direct feedback that shapes future versions while ensuring safety and reliability.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute flight tests in close collaboration with engineering teams.
• Own flight‑test safety for the system, aircraft, and all on‑site personnel.
• Lead bring‑up of new platforms, from basic filter and PID tuning to advanced first‑flight calibrations.
• Identify, isolate and analyse failures in the field and close the loop quickly with development teams.
• Work with in‑house debugging tools and actively contribute to their development.
• Manage field logistics, including vehicle, equipment and full test‑day readiness.
• Recover the aircraft safely when hardware or engineering assumptions fail in flight.

Required profile

• Proven manual piloting experience on both quadcopter and fixed‑wing platforms.
• Valid driver’s licence and RATA drone pilot certification for open‑area operations.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and make immediate safety decisions.

Required skills

• Flight‑control system parameter tuning and PID adjustment.
• Log analysis and root‑cause determination.
• Soldering and component replacement for field hardware repair.
• Mechanical improvisation and quick‑fix solutions during test operations.
