Algorithm Software Engineer - Tomographic Image Reconstruction

About the role

GE HealthCare is hiring an Algorithm Software Engineer in Haifa to help design, implement, test and optimise tomographic image reconstruction software for its Molecular Imaging scanners. The role suits an early-career engineer who enjoys software, algorithms, high-performance computing and medical imaging, and does not require prior professional experience.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement reconstruction algorithms and software tools in C++ within parallel CPU/GPU environments.
• Work with algorithm engineers and scientists to turn mathematical and physical algorithms into robust software.
• Contribute to the architecture and design of complex software components and define interfaces with other subsystems.
• Analyse and optimise software performance, runtime and memory usage.
• Write software requirements, design documents and technical specifications.
• Design and run unit tests and support the Verification & Validation team with system testing plans.
• Support technical investigations, take part in code reviews, maintain configuration management and keep learning new technologies.

Required profile

• B.A./B.Sc./M.Sc. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or a related field.
• Strong academic record; academic honors, research achievements, scholarships or competition participation are highly valued.
• No prior professional experience required; projects showing strong technical capability are valued.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, and ability to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Strong C/C++ programming.
• Data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, debugging and software testing.
• Desired: parallel programming on multi-core CPUs or GPUs, OpenCL or CUDA, MATLAB and/or Python, image processing, computer vision or medical imaging, and performance optimisation.
