Senior Applied Data Scientist – Recommendation Systems

About the role

Nift is looking for a hands‑on Senior Applied Data Scientist to design, build, and scale production‑grade recommendation systems that drive core marketplace outcomes. This is an applied role where you will take models from concept through experimentation, deployment, and post‑launch measurement, directly impacting business KPIs.

Key responsibilities

• Own the full lifecycle of applied machine‑learning projects, from exploratory analysis to production deployment.
• Design, improve, and ship recommendation models that align with Nift’s business goals.
• Run experiments, evaluate results against business KPIs, and iterate on model performance.
• Collaborate with engineering and infrastructure teams to productionize models and scale systems.
• Enhance recommendation quality, personalization, and overall business performance.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in production data‑science environments.
• Proven ability to move machine‑learning models into production and measure business impact.
• Strong deep‑learning background with hands‑on experience in PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Direct experience with recommendation systems or related areas such as bidding or dynamic pricing.
• Solid Python and SQL skills and experience handling data at scale.
