ASIC Physical Design CAD Engineer

About the role

Cisco Silicon One is looking for a CAD Engineer to join its Physical Design team. The team is responsible for the full backend methodology and flow development from RTL to GDS, and works on the development of high-quality VLSI designs for Cisco's next-generation network devices. The design center hosts silicon hardware and software development under one roof.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the development, optimization and innovation of CAD methodologies and tools used in chip design flows from RTL to GDS.
• Ensure the highest quality and efficiency in the physical design process.
• Work within the backend team covering definition, physical synthesis, place and route, optimization, timing closure and design floor planning.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a relevant background.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience in a relevant domain.
• VLSI Design Engineer with extensive experience in backend design.
• Ability to work independently, as a great teammate and self-learner.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of the Place & Route flow.
• Preferred: deep understanding of physical construction and integration.
• Preferred: knowledge of physical design verification methods such as LVS/DRC and formal verification.
• Preferred: experience with PD CAD and physical design EDA tools (e.g., Synopsys, Cadence).
• Preferred: ability to support technology adoption and new tool integration.
