Senior Software Architect

About the role

Checkmarx is seeking a Senior Software Architect to shape the next generation of its cloud‑native SaaS platform, enterprise Data Lake, and AI‑driven engineering platform. The role combines strategic architectural leadership with hands‑on development to drive innovation across the product suite.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the architecture and evolution of Checkmarx’s cloud‑native SaaS offering.
• Define and own the technical roadmap for the enterprise Data Lake.
• Guide the transition from a traditional SDLC to an AI‑Driven Development Lifecycle, establishing vision, architecture, and best practices.
• Design and build the next‑generation agentic development platform that integrates AI agents throughout the software lifecycle.
• Create highly scalable, resilient, secure, and highly available distributed systems.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineering managers, tech leads, and development teams to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Produce architecture documents, technical designs, RFCs, implementation plans, and long‑term technology roadmaps.
• Develop proof‑of‑concepts, evaluate new technologies, review critical designs, and contribute to production code when needed.
• Drive improvements in scalability, reliability, observability, performance, and operational excellence.
• Mentor engineers and technical leaders, promoting best practices across R&D teams.
• Present architectural strategies to developers, senior leadership, and business stakeholders.

Required profile

• 10+ years of experience designing and building large‑scale distributed software systems.
• Proven track record as a Software Architect, Principal Engineer, or equivalent technical leadership role.
• Deep understanding of cloud‑native SaaS architectures, data lake concepts, and AI‑driven development workflows.
• Strong ability to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
