Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Faye is building a fully digital, data‑driven travel insurance platform. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own and scale the core services that power the product suite, working closely with product, front‑end and QA teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance APIs.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and deploy scalable backend services supporting web and mobile applications.
• Own features end‑to‑end, from technical design through production deployment and continuous improvement.
• Write clean, maintainable TypeScript code following best practices and high testing standards.
• Build and optimise PostgreSQL schemas, queries and data flows for reliability and performance at scale.
• Participate in architecture discussions and drive technical decisions that improve velocity, stability and extensibility.
• Perform code reviews, troubleshoot production issues and enhance system observability, reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with Product, Front‑end, QA and other stakeholders to translate requirements into clear technical plans.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 + years of professional backend development experience.
• Strong proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Experience with backend frameworks such as Nest.js or similar.
• Proven ability to design and maintain high‑performance, scalable services.
• Solid understanding of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL.
• Experience working in cloud environments, preferably AWS.
