Engineering Team Lead – AI & Fraud Prevention

About the role

We are seeking an Engineering Team Lead for our Alterya team in Tel Aviv. The role will transition from a Staff‑level Backend Engineer to a leadership position within 3–6 months, driving the development of AI‑powered fraud‑prevention and large‑scale data intelligence solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a high‑performing squad of senior engineers, providing technical guidance and career coaching.
• Own the architecture and scaling of ETL pipelines and data layers, improving performance by up to 100×.
• Drive technical excellence by setting coding standards, reviewing code, and ensuring robust, performance‑critical flows.
• Collaborate with Product Managers to translate complex fraud‑prevention requirements into production‑grade APIs and services.
• Optimize the full stack—from PostgreSQL queries to Kubernetes deployments—to enhance scalability and efficiency.

Required profile

• Deep expertise in Python, including experience with FastAPI and high‑throughput request handling.
• Proven track record building and optimizing large‑scale data pipelines, ETLs, and big‑data systems.
• “AI‑First” mindset, comfortable leveraging LLMs, agents, and other AI tools to accelerate development.
• Senior‑level experience (staff or lead) in backend engineering.
