Telecommunications Assistant – Infrastructure Upgrade (Consultant)

About the role

The United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation is seeking a Telecommunications Assistant on a consultancy basis to lead a finite, deliverables‑based infrastructure upgrade in Jerusalem. The assignment, lasting approximately 5.5 months, focuses on modernising radio communications, establishing redundant satellite connectivity and enhancing surveillance and monitoring systems.

Key responsibilities

• Replace 7 fixed VHF radio systems (DM3601) and deliver a comprehensive replacement report.
• Deploy and configure 100 handheld radios (DP3601e), verify communication and update inventory records.
• Install 40 vehicle radios and antennas (DM3601e), ensure proper mounting, grounding and signal performance.
• Install, configure and integrate VSAT and Starlink systems as redundant internet links, conduct fail‑over testing and provide an integration report.
• Upgrade MOTOTRBO Radio Manager and TRBOnet Plus, validate full functionality and document the upgrade.
• Integrate TRBOnet Plus with UNGSC UNITE Aware to enable radio tracking and data transmission.
• Upgrade the Jerusalem HQ CCTV system and produce a detailed upgrade report.

Required profile

• Proven experience installing, configuring and testing radio and satellite communication equipment.
• Ability to produce detailed technical reports and maintain accurate inventory databases.
• Familiarity with UN telecommunications standards and documentation procedures.
