Software Engineer (Backend, Cloud-Native, AI)

About the role

NetApp is looking for an experienced Software Engineer in Tel Aviv to design, build and operate cloud-native services that help customers manage and optimise their cloud environments. The role focuses on backend development, owning features from concept through production and contributing to architecture and engineering decisions. It also involves building AI and LLM-powered capabilities and advancing AI-assisted development practices across the team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop backend features and services from concept through production
• Build and operate scalable, reliable and maintainable cloud-native services
• Contribute to architecture decisions, design reviews and engineering best practices
• Develop services with a focus on reliability, scalability, performance, cost and observability
• Build and enhance AI and LLM-based capabilities and internal AI tooling
• Apply AI-assisted development tools and workflows to improve engineering productivity and code quality
• Work with AWS, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines and modern cloud-native technologies
• Collaborate with Product and other cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions

Required profile

• 5+ years of hands-on software development experience
• Solid experience building backend services and cloud-based SaaS solutions
• Experience building and operating scalable production systems
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a dynamic engineering environment
• Strong collaboration and communication skills

Required skills

• Node.js and TypeScript
• Public cloud platforms, preferably AWS
• Kubernetes and containerized, cloud-native architectures
• REST APIs
• Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools and workflows

Nice to have: production experience with AI or LLM-based services, React or full-stack development, multi-tenant or large-scale distributed systems, storage technologies, and additional public cloud platforms.
