Senior Researcher – Wireless Connectivity & AI

About the role

General Motors Research Labs in Herzliya is looking for a Senior Researcher to lead innovative work at the intersection of wireless communications, artificial intelligence and automotive applications. The role combines deep expertise in wireless systems with data‑driven methods to improve real‑world connectivity performance and user experience.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze connectivity performance using field data, lab measurements and simulations.
• Benchmark against commercial off‑the‑shelf devices and identify performance gaps.
• Develop AI/ML‑based models and methodologies to enhance robustness and user experience.
• Design system‑level optimisations for in‑vehicle connectivity across multiple radio technologies.
• Influence next‑generation connectivity architectures and standards.
• Collect, preprocess and analyse large‑scale connectivity datasets.
• Create predictive models for physical‑layer and end‑to‑end network performance.

Required profile

• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or a related field.
• Strong background in wireless communications, including physical‑layer and higher‑layer protocols, cellular (4G/5G) and WLAN systems.
• Experience with real‑world deployment considerations and KPI trade‑offs.
• Solid foundation in signal processing, probability, statistics, optimization, estimation and detection theory, and information theory.
• Proven experience in AI/ML model development and evaluation.
