Mechanical Engineering Leader - EVB Development

About the role

Cisco Silicon One builds hardware platforms central to the AI era, powering Cisco's Switching, Routing and Wireless products. This Mechanical Engineering leader builds, leads and mentors a team of mechanical design engineers responsible for Engineering Validation Board (EVB) mechanical development, working with Hardware Program Managers and cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define team priorities, project plans and resource allocation with Hardware Program Managers and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Lead mechanical design of complex EVBs, including board-level mechanics, fixtures, thermal solutions, structural components and lab infrastructure.
• Drive DFM, DFA and DFT to ensure efficient prototype builds and validation.
• Develop mechanical concepts supporting aggressive schedules and multiple concurrent programs.
• Partner with Electrical Engineering, PCB layout, signal integrity, power integrity, thermal engineering, packaging and contract manufacturers throughout the product lifecycle.
• Support prototype assembly, debugging, validation and bring-up, and lead root cause investigations, failure analysis and corrective actions.
• Perform design reviews, risk assessments and implement mitigation plans to improve quality and reliability.
• Improve mechanical design methodologies, processes and best practices, and work with external suppliers on manufacturability, quality, cost and schedule.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (M.Sc. is an advantage).
• 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for electronic products.
• 4+ years leading engineering teams in an R&D environment.
• Proven experience designing electro-mechanical systems for complex electronic hardware.

Required skills

• Strong hands-on experience with 3D CAD tools (Creo preferred).
• Design for sheet metal, CNC machining, injection molding and other manufacturing technologies.
• Understanding of PCB/PCBA mechanical integration and mechanical tolerance analysis.
• PREFERRED: EVB or complex networking/server hardware experience, knowledge of high-speed electronic systems, thermal management for high-power assemblies, and familiarity with lab fixtures and test hardware.
