Electrical Post-Silicon Characterization & Validation Engineer

About the role

Cisco Silicon One builds hardware platforms central to the AI era, powering its core Switching, Routing and Wireless products. This role leads the electrical post-silicon validation of Silicon One products, focusing on high-speed and power-intensive devices, and drives the resolution of complex silicon performance and characterization issues.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with architecture, design and software teams to resolve silicon performance and characterization issues, feeding back insights that shape future silicon design and specifications.
• Lead electrical post-silicon validation from architecture through physical design and DFT, analyzing characterization data to guide design improvements.
• Develop and run test plans to validate silicon performance and reliability against specifications, and troubleshoot characterization issues.
• Work on advanced silicon products with experienced engineers in a fast-growing team offering professional development.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience in silicon and package characterization, hardware bring-up, or multi-disciplinary system-level validation in an R&D lab.
• Preferred: ability to root-cause issues spanning silicon, package and PCB, and background in high-speed optical-electrical validation (eye-diagrams, BER testing).

Required skills

• High-speed oscilloscopes, VNA, TDR and phase noise analyzers.
• ASIC bring-up on EVBs, especially SerDes and high-speed clock/voltage domains.
• Validation plan development and Python automation scripts.
• Preferred: signal and power integrity, and using validation data to improve production flow and chip yield.
