Mechanical Engineer - Imaging Systems

About the role

This position leads the design of parts and assemblies for GE imaging systems (PET, SPECT), either within an NPI project or supporting the systems in the field (install base). It works in multi-disciplinary teams with electronics, system engineering and service engineering, and covers transfer of designs to production, support of high-level assembly lines, safety files, V&V tests, engineering calculations, FEA simulations, specifications and failure analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Mechanical design of parts and assemblies from specifications, using off-the-shelf components and the 3D CREO CAD package, and presenting designs in concept and detail design reviews
• Develop creative design solutions balancing functionality, reliability, cost and manufacturability
• Support products at hospital and customer sites through the Service Teams
• Build safety files including strength calculations, FMEA and compliance with safety, medical-industrial and internal GE standards
• Support transfer to production, define basic assembly and service instructions and work with parts suppliers
• Define verification and validation test procedures, run tests and write reports

Required profile

• First degree in mechanical engineering
• 2 years of mechanical design experience, with at least 2 of: motion systems, large welded or cast structures and frames, mechanisms, electronic packaging, large sculptured FRP covers, electrical design support (DXF, cable routing)
• Experience in machining and sheet metal technologies, and hands-on prototype building
• Fluent English at presentation level in design reviews, Zoom/Teams calls and writing
