Logic Designer and FPGA Team Leader

About the role

Johnson & Johnson MedTech Cardiovascular is seeking an experienced Logic Designer and FPGA Team Leader to head the FPGA engineering group that develops life‑saving medical systems. This senior position will have direct influence on product architecture, delivery, and safety, contributing to the health of millions of patients worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of FPGA designers, providing technical guidance and career development.
• Define and implement FPGA architecture for complex medical devices.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with hardware, software, and validation teams to deliver high‑quality, regulated FPGA solutions.
• Oversee synthesis, implementation, and static timing analysis using tools such as Vivado and Quartus.
• Drive hardware bring‑up activities, including debugging with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, JTAG, and BERT.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• At least six years of experience in logic design and FPGA/RTL development.
• Minimum two years of experience managing a technical team.
• Proven ability to read electrical schematics and understand SI/PI, power, and cooling requirements.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Verilog and SystemVerilog.
• Experience with Vivado, Quartus, and static timing analysis (XDC/SDC constraints).
• Hands‑on hardware bring‑up using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, JTAG, and BERT.
• Familiarity with PCIe and SerDes protocols and signal‑processing algorithms.
• Knowledge of Artix‑7 and Kintex UltraScale devices (advantage).
