Backend Intern - C++

About the role

Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) is recruiting a Backend Intern in Herzliya. The role is designed as onsite, with the expectation that you will primarily work from an HPE office. It is a student internship program of approximately 18 months within Zerto, a company founded in Israel and acquired by HPE about four years ago, whose technology protects and recovers applications across datacenters and clouds such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud and Oracle Cloud.

Key responsibilities

• Develop backend features in modern C++ for a large-scale, production-grade system.
• Investigate and resolve challenging bugs involving distributed systems, concurrency performance and reliability.
• Gain hands-on experience with Linux, virtualization, storage, networking and cloud technologies.

Required profile

• Undergraduate student in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering with a GPA of 85 or higher and at least two years of study remaining.
• Availability to work about 3 days a week (around 60%), in a hybrid setting.
• Good understanding of OOP through C++, and familiarity with basic data structures, algorithms and operating-system concepts.
• Excellent written and spoken English; self-learner who builds system vision from training, documentation and self-exploration.
• Team player who can also work independently.

Required skills

• Advantage: hands-on C++ experience, understanding of multithreading, synchronization and concurrency, familiarity with Linux development environments, and knowledge of networking, storage or distributed systems.
