Algorithm Developer – Advanced Image Processing

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an Algorithm Developer to join its R&D team in Rehovot, Israel. You will work on cutting‑edge algorithms for image processing that power next‑generation metrology and inspection systems used in semiconductor manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement registration and scoring algorithms for detection, including image‑to‑CAD alignment, non‑rigid registration, and defect detection/localization.
• Build zero‑ to low‑shot training capabilities and contribute to algorithm robustness and usability.
• Collaborate with image‑processing engineers, architecture, and product teams to integrate algorithms into high‑performance inspection tools.

Required profile

• 5+ years of R&D experience in deep learning and image‑processing algorithms.
• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in a relevant engineering field.
• Proven track record of delivering production‑ready, robust solutions.

Required skills

• Deep learning for image analysis.
• Image registration and scoring techniques.
• Zero‑shot and low‑shot model training.
• Defect detection and localization algorithms.
