Senior Software Engineer, Control

About the role

WEKA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and build the core control layer of its distributed file system. You will own the orchestration, metadata, and cluster‑membership components that enable massive scale, automated failover, zero‑downtime upgrades and self‑healing capabilities across hundreds of thousands of nodes.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement, unit‑test and maintain services that coordinate cluster operations and metadata management.
• Optimize performance using advanced data structures such as spanning trees, LSM‑Trees and MVCC concurrency control.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to translate backend capabilities into production impact.
• Diagnose and resolve distributed system incidents, ensuring high availability and reliability.
• Contribute to the evolution of the system’s architecture, including consensus protocols and scaling mechanisms.

Required profile

• 5+ years of systems programming experience, preferably in C or C++.
• Proven track record building high‑performance distributed systems (databases, file systems, or data platforms) at scale.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for complex, distributed environments.
• Ownership mindset and ability to work independently on challenging problems.
