Java Software Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a Senior Java Software Engineer to join its Optical Diagnostics and Control Business Unit in Rehovot. You will work on high‑performance, large‑scale distributed systems for semiconductor equipment, contributing to cutting‑edge inspection and diagnostics products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, develop and debug software solutions for semiconductor equipment components.
• Create software documentation, test procedures and troubleshoot software problems.
• Collaborate with internal customers to understand project requirements and ensure quality and functionality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• 5+ years of related software development experience.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and debugging skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Java.
• Experience with networking principles and multi‑threading.
• Linux development, Docker containers and Kubernetes.
• Python (preferred).
• Inter‑process communication.
