Design Team Manager – Server Chip Design (Google Cloud)

About the role

Google Cloud is looking for a Design Team Manager to lead the Server Chip Design team. You will drive the full SoC VLSI design cycle, from architecture definition to production, for custom silicon that powers Google’s direct‑to‑consumer products.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage the IP, subsystems, and SoC development lifecycle from specification through tape‑out.
• Lead a group of designers and design tech leads, providing mentorship and career development.
• Collaborate with design and verification engineers on active projects, creating architecture definitions, RTL coding, and block‑level simulations.
• Drive improvements in design flows, technical execution, and leadership practices.
• Ensure design quality, physical design considerations, and power efficiency throughout the cycle.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 10+ years of experience in the RTL design cycle from IP to SoC, covering specification to production.
• 8+ years of experience managing execution teams.
• Strong background in RTL design, design quality checks, physical design aspects, and power optimization.
• Preferred experience with synthesis optimization, low‑power design techniques, and scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
• Knowledge of PCIe, UCIe, DDR, AXI, CHI, Fabrics, ARM processor families, SoC architecture, and assertion‑based formal verification.
