Senior Board Design Engineer, Electro Optical

About the role

The Advanced Research (ARG) team in Yokneam is seeking a Senior Electro‑Optical / Board Design Engineer to drive research and development of next‑generation electro‑optical devices and sub‑systems for high‑speed communication. You will work within a multidisciplinary group of engineers and researchers to create future components and systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the electrical specification, schematic design, component selection and characterization of EO sub‑systems and evaluation boards.
• Develop PCB layout, address multi‑layer design considerations, and guide fabrication and assembly processes.
• Perform hands‑on development and testing in a Data‑Center interconnect laboratory environment.
• Collaborate with the team to integrate high‑frequency and broadband (>20 GHz) designs into functional prototypes.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Practical Engineer certificate, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in electro‑optical and high‑speed board design.
• Strong background in high‑frequency, broadband (>20 GHz) design and system‑level understanding.
• Experience with thermal and mechanical design considerations for high‑speed PCBs.

Required skills

• High‑frequency and broadband (>20 GHz) PCB design.
• Multi‑layer PCB design with SI/PI analysis.
• Knowledge of electro‑optical components: drivers, CDR, gearbox, DSP, lasers, detectors, amplifiers.
• Proficiency with Cadence board‑design tools.
• Familiarity with NRZ and PAM‑4 signaling schemes.
• Experience with communication protocols: SPI, I2C, SerDes, PCIe, Ethernet.
• Layout extraction and board‑level simulation.
• Understanding of Data‑Center environments (switches, CPU, DPU, GPU).
