Senior Physical Design CAD Engineer

About the role

Silicon One is looking for a CAD Engineer to join the Cisco Silicon One Physical Design team. The team works on the backend methodology and flow development from RTL to GDS, covering chip design areas such as definition, physical synthesis, place and route, optimization, timing closure and design floor planning. It is described as a startup-like environment within a stable, leading corporation.

Key responsibilities

• Drive the development, optimization and innovation of CAD methodologies and tools used in chip design flows from RTL to GDS.
• Ensure the highest quality and efficiency of the design flows.
• Work within the Physical Design team, which handles the full backend methodology and flow development.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with a relevant background.
• 7+ years of hands-on experience in a relevant domain.
• VLSI Design Engineer with extensive experience in backend design.
• Preferred: ability to support technology adoption and new tool integration, and to work independently as a great teammate and self-learner.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of the Place & Route flow.
• Preferred: deep understanding of physical construction and integration.
• Preferred: knowledge of physical design verification methods such as LVS/DRC and formal verification.
• Preferred: experience with PD CAD and physical design EDA tools (e.g., Synopsys, Cadence).
