About the role

Join one of Microsoft Defender’s elite research teams and help protect the world’s largest enterprises. You will investigate advanced attacker techniques and turn findings into real‑time protection across hybrid and multi‑cloud environments.

Key responsibilities

• Investigate real‑world attacker TTPs to develop high‑fidelity protection signals.
• Design and implement autonomous capabilities that prevent, detect, and disrupt sophisticated threats.
• Analyze massive telemetry using big‑data query languages to uncover novel malicious patterns.
• Partner with engineering and product teams to validate concepts and ship production‑ready protection at global scale.
• Provide expert feedback by analyzing attack data and telemetry to improve coverage and accuracy.

Required profile

• 4+ years of hands‑on security research or threat‑hunting experience, preferably focused on identity, cloud, or AI‑based threats.
• Deep understanding of modern attacker techniques, kill‑chains, and platform internals across OS, cloud workloads, and identity platforms.
• Experience hunting across on‑premises, hybrid, and cloud environments.
• Proven ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
