R&D System Engineer

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an experienced R&D System Engineer to join its Israel team in Rehovot. You will work on cutting‑edge semiconductor manufacturing systems that combine optics, lasers, motion control, vacuum and high‑voltage technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design multidisciplinary systems that integrate state‑of‑the‑art optics, lasers, motion, vacuum, high‑voltage, control, signal & image processing, advanced algorithms and software.
• Define and validate technical requirements for system flows.
• Perform complex experiments to guide next‑generation solutions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of system problems.

Required profile

• BSc in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering (or higher degree) with 5+ years of multidisciplinary systems R&D experience.
• Strong background in electro‑optics, control theory or signal/image processing.
• Proficient in data analysis and signal/image processing using Python.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and collaboration skills, with the ability to work independently.
• Strong English oral and written communication; familiarity with AI tools.
