Software QA Engineer (Validation)

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking a skilled Software Quality Assurance Engineer to join the team developing next‑generation applications for controlling and managing semiconductor and display products. The role focuses on validating software for scanning electron microscope (SEM) tools used in semiconductor manufacturing.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with product development and customers to ensure requirements are met.
• Plan, develop, implement and maintain comprehensive test plans and test cases for new software projects.
• Design and execute test cases at both code and system levels, covering functionality, regression, performance and nightly runs.
• Leverage automation scripts to streamline testing tasks and improve efficiency.
• Maintain documentation of test plans, results and defects to aid debugging and software modification.
• Analyze test outcomes, recommend corrective actions and work with development engineers to resolve issues.
• Work independently in the field with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong problem‑solving skills.
• Stay up to date with the latest software testing trends and technologies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or practical engineer in a scientific field.
• At least 3 years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Strong technical skills in software testing and quality assurance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Basic understanding of the software development life cycle.
