Silicon Automation Engineer

About the role

Google’s ML, Systems, & Cloud AI organization is looking for a Silicon Automation Engineer to help accelerate the hardware design lifecycle for its custom silicon products. You will design, build, and maintain software automation that reduces iteration time and improves hardware quality across ASIC and SoC flows.

Key responsibilities

• Design, test, deploy, and maintain robust automation solutions for hardware design pipelines.
• Develop clean, testable Python applications that integrate operational frameworks and drive EDA pipelines.
• Leverage Generative AI, LLMs, and AI agents to resolve bottlenecks in ASIC and SoC workflows.
• Prototype and ship tools in close partnership with hardware engineering teams.
• Ensure the AI‑enhanced capabilities are intuitive, accessible, and practical for end users.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 3 years of software development experience, including systems debugging.
• 3+ years of professional Python experience.
• Experience with data structures, algorithms, and software test engineering.
• Willingness to collaborate across global time zones and adapt to new languages/frameworks.
