Maintenance Technician – Food Manufacturing

About the role

The Maintenance Technician ensures that all machinery and mechanical equipment operate efficiently and safely within a food‑processing environment. You will work closely with Operations Management to schedule maintenance that minimizes production downtime.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on automated equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with Operations Management.
• Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and diagnose issues using prints, manuals, and testing devices.
• Dismantle, rebuild, and replace defective parts using hand and power tools.
• Maintain and troubleshoot relay logic, control field devices, VFDs, HMIs, and safety interlocks.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and document all work orders and daily reports.
• Support safety, food‑quality, and sanitation initiatives.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED; vocational training or an associate degree with an electromechanical focus is preferred.
• 2+ years of experience with automated equipment, preferably in a food‑manufacturing setting.
• Strong self‑motivation and ability to work independently.

Required skills

• Troubleshooting and preventive maintenance techniques.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring instruments, and electronic testing devices.
• Knowledge of relay logic, contactors, starters, limit switches, proximity sensors, photo eyes, VFDs, HMIs, and interlock safety devices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
• Experience with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
