R&D System Engineer – Advanced Semiconductor Systems

About the role

Applied Materials is seeking an experienced R&D System Engineer to design and develop cutting‑edge systems for advanced semiconductor manufacturing. You will work in Rehovot, Israel, contributing to technologies that power AI and next‑generation chips.

Key responsibilities

• Design multidisciplinary systems that integrate optics, lasers, motion control, vacuum, high‑voltage, and advanced signal and image processing.
• Define and validate technical requirements and system flow specifications.
• Conduct complex experiments to guide next‑generation solution development.
• Troubleshoot and resolve a wide range of system issues.

Required profile

• BSc in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering with 5+ years of multidisciplinary R&D experience (or MSc/PhD with additional experience).
• Strong background in electro‑optics, control theory, or signal/image processing.
• Proficiency in data analysis and signal/image processing using Python.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and self‑learning abilities.
• Effective collaboration, independent work, and leadership skills.
• Fluent English communication, both oral and written.
