Logistics Technician – Data Center Inventory & Asset

About the role

As a Logistics Technician within Microsoft’s Cloud Operations & Innovation team, you will manage inventory and asset processes for data‑centre hardware, ensuring accurate tracking of inbound and outbound deliveries, warranty returns and secure handling of data‑bearing devices.

Key responsibilities

• Perform cycle audits and execute incoming/outgoing deliveries.
• Coordinate security escorts for third‑party vendors and document all inbound and outbound shipments.
• Initiate and manage warranty claims and RMA processes, including packaging, shipment and receipt of failed hardware.
• Maintain up‑to‑date logical information in inventory management systems such as CMDBs and asset repositories.
• Track physical inventory, stage equipment and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
• Destroy data‑bearing devices in accordance with service level agreements.
• Escalate issues during high‑volume periods and work with minimal supervision.

Required profile

• Strong focus on detail and impact of work when handling tickets and inventory tasks.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision.
• Comfort handling high‑volume, time‑sensitive activities.

Required skills

• Experience with inventory management systems.
• Familiarity with configuration management databases (CMDB) and asset management repositories.
• Knowledge of warranty claim and RMA processes.
• Understanding of data‑bearing device destruction procedures.
